Access to nutritious food is a critical need for many individuals and families across New York City and throughout the state. Rising food costs have forced many households to make difficult tradeoffs, with an increasing number of families—particularly those with children—having to choose between purchasing nutritious food and paying for other essential household expenses.
For decades, the West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) has worked to address food insecurity by providing healthy food options and resources that can help people build greater long-term stability. And this year, Michael Fisch accepted WSCAH’s yearly Dignity Award on behalf of American Securities.
American Securities has partnered with WSCAH for more than 20 years, reflecting the firm’s belief that meaningful societal impact is built through consistent engagement and a commitment to supporting organizations creating lasting change.
WSCAH’s Approach to Hunger Relief
Since 1979, the West Side Campaign Against Hunger has been committed to reshaping the approach to hunger relief with four key initiatives:
- Dignity Through Access — WSCAH collaborates with community-based organizations throughout the city to equip families with equitable access to healthy food and essential services.
- The Roundtable: Allies for Food Access — WSCAH leads a dedicated network of emergency food providers to amplify community resources with strategic, collaborative, and advocacy-driven efforts.
- Advocacy for Systemic Change — WSCAH advocates for initiatives and policies that expand vital benefits programs and support frontline food providers to achieve sustainable, long-term change.
- Reimagining Food Distribution — WSCAH leverages technology and community-based solutions to create programs that make food distribution more efficient and equitable, including customer-choice pantries, mobile services, and partnerships with healthcare providers.
Dignity, community, and choice are central to WSCAH’s approach, redefining what it looks like to create systemic change in crucial areas of need.
American Securities’ Support of WSCAH Initiatives
American Securities supports nonprofit organizations that expand access to essential resources and opportunities. Its long-standing relationship with WSCAH is one example of that commitment. For more than two decades, American Securities has supported WSCAH through financial contributions and employee volunteerism, helping advance the organization’s efforts to address food insecurity.
During its recent annual Day of Giving Back, American Securities employees volunteered alongside WSCAH to pack groceries, help in food pantries, and distribute food directly to community members through emergency food locations. Volunteer efforts have also supported WSCAH’s Healthy Foods Holiday Challenge, helping provide healthy holiday meals to New York City families.
Team members have also volunteered alongside members of The Roundtable, Met Council, New York Common Pantry, and CLOTH, supporting collaborative efforts to address food insecurity across New York City.

In March 2026, Michael Fisch was proud to accept the WSCAH Dignity Award on behalf of American Securities at the WSCAH’s Plentiful Plates luncheon. The award recognizes individuals and organizations whose support has helped advance WSCAH’s mission to address food insecurity and expand access to nutritious food across New York City.
The recognition reflects a partnership that has continued for more than two decades through financial contributions and employee volunteerism. As WSCAH continues its work to address hunger and strengthen communities, American Securities remains committed to supporting the organization’s mission.
